University of Texas at Austin Belo Center for New Media
Austin, Texas
The Belo Center for New Media is designed to be a "gateway" building which will be a place of learning and exploration, carefully integrated with The University of Texas' master building plan in its Central Texas location. The five-story, 125,000 square-foot Belo Center is an expansion of the existing footprint of the College of Communications and will utilize cutting-edge technology with innovative teaching methods. The center includes multi-use classrooms, an auditorium, expanded research and seminar space, spaces dedicated for student organizations, the Office of Student Affairs, the School of Journalism and the Department of Advertising. In addition to these spaces, there is also a multi-media digital newsroom, an agency-grade "creative room", a café and lounge, and an executive briefing center.
The Belo Center for New Media will include not only the College of Communications, but will also be home to the KUT Public Broadcast Center as well. The Center will engage the student body and the broader Austin Community, creating a place for interaction and advanced learning.
