The Round Rock ISD Technology Center is located on a unique site consisting of unforeseen caves beneath the surface of the ground, greatly dictating the location of the building, road ways, and parking lots. For such a small site, these elements needed to not only respect the new challenges of the site, but also the functionality and exceptional design practices that GSC Architects and the client demand. The design team worked vigorously with consultants, mapping the limitations of the site and creating a template on which the facility was ultimately designed.

GSC is excited about this project because it demonstrates that although there might be unforeseen difficulties during the project, with a skillful team, a sense of fortitude and a personal excitement for problem solving, all projects can be a success. This project was designed as LEED Silver and is currently awaiting certification.

The center can be used as Emergency Command Center by the local fire, police and EMS departments. It also was designed to feature meeting rooms for community events.
