This project is an adaptive re-use of an industrial building for Metrowerks' Headquarters. The space was resourcefully remodeled to create a high-tech interior including an open office area, private offices, conference centers and software design studios. The interior design supports the company's high-energy technical environment, and provides a paradigm for reinventing this lofty space by reinterpreting its inherent qualities. The tailored minimalist design elements embrace Metrowerks' contemporary methodologies and synergistic environment.
Interlocking partitions enhance visual movement, which add to the overall choreography of the office setting. The variations of color and texture are subtle and combined in multiples to define the space sculpturally. The 24-foot high ceiling mandated that light would need to be introduced into the workspace to relieve a feeling of gloominess. Chrome lights float overhead and glass-top tables resting on steel pipe bases work well with the grand scale and bring a sense of modern sophistication.
